My Birthday Treats

On Groundhog Day, I celebrated a great, yet simple birthday, spent shopping and eating pasta at the Cheesecake Factory with my sister.  I treated myself to a couple presents to celebrate another ring in the tree trunk.

Forever 21 Buckled Faux Leather Satchel

This adorable little satchel caught my eye while I was perusing Forever 21.  There was only one in stock, tucked away behind a handful of other handbags on the shelf, but somehow my sister and I noticed it, and thank goodness for that!  There is something very retro and Pan Am-esque about the cream color with black trim detailing.  I have yet to put this satchel to use, but am dying to pair it with my trench coat for work in the spring.

YSL Volupte Shine Lipstick in Fuchsia Stiletto

I’ve been wearing hot pink lipsticks nonstop for the past few weeks. I’ve been trying different brands, from drugstore to high end.  This YSL Volupte Shine Lipstick in Fuchsia Stiletto is a bright, neon, hot pink shade in the bullet, but goes on quite a bit darker.  In my previous post, I mentioned how I was still undecided about whether or not to keep this lipstick.  Over 2 weeks after purchasing, I’m still undecided!  Everything about this lipstick is great, but since I was looking for a neon hot pink, and this applies quite a bit darker, is it worth keeping still?

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Rollerball

I am veeeeery finicky when it comes to fragrances.  I am extremely sensitive to fragrances and 99.999999% of fragrances give me bad headaches.  This scent from Dolce & Gabbana didn’t seem too strong when I sniffed the tester, and had a slight hint of citrus to it, which I thought might make it a bit more tolerable for me.  Having used it a few times now, I still do like this fragrance, although I do feel that it is stronger on the body than in the tester tube (duh!).  But all I have to do is be careful not to apply too much, and the scent works just fine for me.

Let me know down below if you think I should keep the YSL lipstick!

Pros:

  • Pretty color, albeit not the neon hot pink I was looking for
  • Pleasant, candy scent
  • Moisturizing
  • Gorgeous packaging

Cons:

  • Technically not the shade I was looking for
  • Sweet taste if I accidentally lick my lips

For the $37 price tag, should I return this lipstick and repurchase a different shade at a later time?

    1. Thank you for your feedback! I agree, everything about the YSL lipstick is amazing, including the formula. I’m leaning towards keeping it.
